Information Room

Open at all times located within the Campers Shelter Building. Leaflets and chart information is available about the many attractions and places of interest on the island. There are also extensive charts and maps.

Mobile & Public Telephones

Vodafone and Orange networks work best on the site. There is a public telephone box located in the centre of Staffin village. Columba 1400 also boasts an internet café.

TV Reception

There is generally good television reception on the site, with a freeview signal also available from the Stornoway transmitter.

Local Radio

Tune into local information courtesy of Cuillin FM 102.7 MHZ. Local coverage from 7.30am daily.

There is an internet café based in Staffin village at Columba 1400 centre.

If you need to make or receive a telephone call in an emergency then please ask reception or the warden.

Pitches

ALWAYS PARK PARALLEL TO YOUR STANCE

Motor Homes

If your pitch is left unattended then please leave your motor home sign on display. Guests are free to request the retention of a pitch.

Vacating your pitch

If you wish to stay after 12 noon on your day of departure, it is normally not a problem unless the site is fully booked.

However please ask the warden first during busy months.

Barbecues

These are not allowed on the site apart from gas barbecues. Please ensure that portable barbecues are not lit on grass or lit at the area provided near the camping/tent shelter area. Barbeques can be hired on the site.

No campfires.

Tents

When conditions are damp it is best for car owners to park with the natural slope adjacent with the road to avoid driving off against the gradient.

Drinking Water

All water on the site is drinking water. Fill points are indicated on the site map.

THE CAMPING BOTHY IS FREE TO ALL CAMPERS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO USE IT

ADAPTERS ARE AVAILABLE FOR ELECTRIC HOOK UP POINTS £1.50 pn

Toilets and Showers

Please note that the toilet block, will at times, be closed to access to allow for cleaning. Please allow the cleaner priority to facilitate this. Showers are not metered but please respect other guests who may be waiting.

Please refrain from charging mobile phones from shaver points. There are free power points available on request.

Please refrain from drying wet clothes in the toilet block, there is a laundry facility provided.

Do not clean dishes or pots in the toilet block, there are sinks provided.

Chemical Toilet

The chemical toilet disposal is for the sole purpose of disposal of chemical waste. Please do not use the facility for other waste such as nappies.

Ask at reception or the warden about laundry facilities

Campers Bothy Room

The facility is intended as a shelter for camping guests only. Please keep it clean and respect other campers who may be waiting to use it. The facility closes at 10pm.

Out and About

General Stores

Staffin Stores and MacKenzie Stores are both located in Staffin 1 mile from the campsite. Both are well equipped, licensed stores selling milk, fresh bread and daily newspapers. MacKenzie Stores sell diesel and petrol. Mon- Sat

Public Transport

There is a regular bus service Mon – Sat from and to Portree. The bus will stop at the end of the campsite access road junction. Ask for bus times or see info.

Walking

There is a footpath from the campsite to Staffin Bay, please follow the path carefully. For experienced mountain walkers, the Quirang and The Storr are nearby.

Ferry

Uig is situated 20 minutes from the campsite. Ask for details of leaving caravans whilst exploring the Western Isles.
